Move over Village People: there’s another act vying for the title of “world’s gayest boyband.”
And they’re called – somewhat brilliantly – The Other Direction.
Comprised of Alex the Jock, Norm the Cowboy, Jason the Party Boy, Greg the Mama Bear and Devin the Fashionista (that’s how they introduced themselves, FYI), the band appeared on this week’s episode of long-running talent show America’s Got Talent.
Where, against the odds, they brought the house down.
“We made a pact that when we were 21 we would come together”
“We actually met at middle school at show choir camp and we all came out to each other while we were there,” Jason told the judges.
“We made a pact that when we were 21 we would come together and form the world’s gayest boyband.”
Judges Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara and Heidi Klum seemed taken with the boys, with Simon Cowell even offering a rare note of encouragement before their audition: “I hope this goes really, really well – good luck.”
The five-piece then performed their original song ‘Girl, You’re the Best.’
