Putri Ariani is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from Indonesia who came all the way to America to perform on the “AGT” stage. Born prematurely, Putri was diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity in infancy, rendering her blind, but her dream is for people to see her vocal talent and songwriting abilities rather than her blindness. She is inspired by international artists, including Stevie Wonder and Andrea Bocelli, and lives by the motto “We are able. We are capable. We are equal,” as her disability doesn’t hold her back from living her dreams. In 2014, Putri won “Indonesia’s Got Talent” at just 8 years old, and in 2022, Putri was invited to sing the Indonesian national anthem for the opening of the Asian Para Games. However, nothing was more important for Putri than coming to “AGT” and performing in front of Simon Cowell.
Putri Ariani’s audition in Episode 1802 consisted of singing her original song “Loneliness” while playing the piano. After the performance, Simon Cowell asked if she could sing another song because of how much he enjoyed the first performance, to which she performed Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”. Moved by both of her performances, Simon hit the Golden Buzzer, sending her directly to the Semifinals.
